It is now two weeks since my return from Tanzania and I am just getting my New York mojo back. I have a way to go before I shake the aura of disillusionment that hangs over me these days. Egos, corruption, the incredibly slow pace at which the project moves forward and the fact that from this point on it will move or not move without me, I have been well used here and I am done.

Meanwhile, I am getting concerned emails from Pemba. Things are undone. Promises are going unfulfilled and no one here is communicating with people there. What amazes me is that KPMG had a meeting to discuss my report but didn’t invite me. So deep is the political rift and certainly, on my part, the disgust with the way their people in New York and the UK handled or mishandled this project – and alienated me, the person who introduced them to the project and lobbied for years to get them involved. I was a loyal alum and a huge fan and now…well, not so much.
